CNN’s Howard Kurtz states that same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue and favorably cites a fellow reporter that homosexual marriage is “the great civil rights issue of our time.” Homosexuals, in fact, are simply the latest mascots in the Left’s perennial emancipation crusade, the war against all possible oppression in the world, wherever it may be found, employing all coercive government tactics necessary to win the crusade. It’s Leftist fascism.

Framing homosexual marriage as a civil rights issue lends instant credence to the crusade, since it brings to mind the racial civil rights issue of the 60’s. No one wants to defend racism, after all. But it takes little thought to grasp how different these issues are. Homosexual marriage necessitates behavior, not ontology. Even if it were proven that homosexuality is a genetic component (it hasn’t been), that would no more equate homosexuality with race than it would equate pedophilia and rape with race, since there are present arguments for the genetic basis of each behavior (here and here), and very few are arguing for the legalization of either. Not just yet, anyway. However, it is hard to imagine that the next great liberal emancipation crusade will not be over pedophilia. After all, in an age of increasingly unqualified sexual liberation, what right have adults to impose on 11-year-olds with whom they may and may not have sex, and are not adults who enjoy sexual intercourse with children perhaps simply acting on instinct, which should not be suppressed? The Left sees the world as a vast factory for oppression, particularly due to Christian history and Christian culture. This Christianity and especially its sexual standards must be broken and erased from culture. The great evil in the world is God’s ethical standards. From these standards the world must be emancipated.

Under the guise of abstract civil rights, the Left is now succeeding in overturning the definition of the most abiding institution in thousands of years of human history — a God-created institution on whose violation he pledges to visit his most severe judgment (Heb. 13:4).

This isn’t an issue of civil rights for homosexuals. It’s an issue of God’s right to order his creation.

The Left’s emancipation crusade didn’t start with homosexuality.

And it won’t end with it.
